The Directors and Board members of The Evelyn E. Perkins Scholarship Foundation (EEP), are comprised of active and retired educators, business persons, a former principal, attorney, clergy and community leaders who are all passionate about education, and the value and impact it has on our young people, society, our communities, and the future of world leadership as a whole. Since 2007, EEP has given scholarships to high school seniors from single-parent homes who are pursuing higher education. Scholarships have primarily been awarded to students in the various Inland Empire school districts in San Bernardino County, Los Angeles County(L.A. Unified and Pasadena Unified School Districts) and Riverside County (Corona & San Jacinto School Districts).

Established and founded in 2006 by the daughters of the late Evelyn E. Perkins - Danessa Jackson, MBA (middle), Michelle Heard ED.d (far right) and Trudi Perkins Ed.d (far left) grew up and attended schools in Pasadena, CA. before moving to the Los Angeles and Inland Empire areas. As a small organization, we are thankful to say that since 2007, the EEP Scholarship Foundation has awarded nearly $50,000 dollars in scholarships to high school students from single-parent homes who have overcome obstacles to pursue and achieve their dream of attending college. It is our desire to continue to help young people with their educational and financial needs for higher learning.

Our Mission
The Evelyn E Perkins Scholarship Foundation is a public, non-profit organization established to perpetuate the memory of this dedicated educator, Evelyn Perkins. Our mission is to provide assistance to high school seniors from single-parent homes pursuing a secondary education. Many children today live in homes where they are being raised by a single, hard working mother, father, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or guardian. It is for these persons and situations, the Evelyn E Perkins Scholarship Foundation desires to lend a helping hand. The scholarship foundation presents $1,000 awards and $500 awards to the selected students who meet or exceed the stated requirements. Our goal is to enhance the educational opportunities of the selected scholars through scholarship awards and leadership development programs that focus on preparing students for their chosen vocation.

About Evelyn E. Perkins:
Evelyn Perkins was an educator for more than twenty years in the public schools. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1927. She received her Bachelors' Degree from Dillard University. After moving to California in 1959, Mrs. Perkins attended the Pasadena Nazarene University where she received her Masters Degree in Education. She loved singing in the church choir, sports (an avid L.A.Dodger fan) and putting math programs together to help students. A trailblazer, she was one of the first African-American educators in Monrovia, teaching at the Huntington Elementary School for several years. Mrs. Perkins was hired and began teaching in the Monrovia Unified School District in 1965, five years before the district was desegregated in 1970. She was a respected teacher who was dedicated to the success of all students. After several years of marriage Mrs.Perkins found herself having to raise three children alone. As a single parent, Mrs.Perkins was the mother of three daughters all of whom today are college graduates working in their respective professions and making a difference! Mrs. Perkins succumbed to breast cancer in 1976.

Contributions can be made throughout the year by mailing donations to:
P.O. Box 714, Rancho Cucamonga, California 91729. You may also contact the Human Resources department at your place of employment to establish a monthly payroll deduction that can be sent directly to the scholarship foundation.
